Dr. Kim-Shopping Day

Today we had a late morning date with Dr. Kim, the head of Eastern Social Welfare Society, and other families who are here to pick up their kids. Dr. Kim told us a little about her life during the Korean War and after, about how and why Dr. Kim, Sr. founded Eastern and what the Agency is doing now to help children, unwed mother's and the elderly.

Afterwards, Eastern provided us all lunch. Then we took our new friends on an uneventful walk around Seoul. Like what sometimes happens to us, almost everything was closed. The guide book said these things were closed on Tuesday, turns out they are closed on Monday. We did, however, make it to Insadong to do a little shopping. We bought some things that I unknowingly have been looking for. I keep telling Luke I want to buy "traditional Korean stuff". He keep pointing to Korean's making things and saying what more could I mean. But everyone knows what I'm talking about. Things that tourist buy :).

Well we found them; and then, of course, went to dinner. Tomorrow we meet Big Ike again. I'll let you know how it goes afterwards.

(oh, here are some cool things that we saw. This lady was making the prettiest things out of candy. It was hard to take a picture of because they are huge and wrapped in plastic wrap. I wish I could carry one home :( )

I am totally blog stalking -- can't wait to see more pictures of you and Ike!! Have enjoyed seeing all your photos. I can't believe it's already that cold there. I guess I'd better start psyching myself up for it.
