We are still here

Ike has been home for almost four months. In four months we have had Thanksgiving, celebrated his first birthday, Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day; traveled to Breckenridge, CO., The Villages, FL, and Washington, D.C.; Ike has had a few colds, the stomach flu, a double ear and sinus infection; Luke and I have had two severe sinus infections, a stomach bug, a stomach flu which made us think we should put a sign on the door to stop mail and any visitors and colds upon colds. Needless to say we have been plenty busy.

I think I already posted about us going skiing with our buddies. Two weeks later we went to Florida to see Luke's 93 year old grandpa, girlfriend, aunt and uncle in this crazy retirement village called The Villages. The Villages house up to a 100, 000 people. That's right. It started in the 1950's and has continues to expand. They have several golf courses, squares, restaurants and a million things to do. Everything looks similar, so similar that I became lost when running. I actually ran in a circle and then a down and back thinking that I just ran a down and back. I realized later that I had ran past the street I had started on and just not realized it.

I was great for Ike to be able to spend time with his only family that lives outside of Oklahoma. It was also nice to get out of the horrid winter we have been having here. Normally by this time in March I have planted a garden and straightened up my front yard. This year I have barely been able to run because of the crazy wind and horrible cold.

Two weeks after Florida (I'm sorry the pictures are backwards) Ike and I accompanied Luke on a work trip to D.C. We were very happy to go. I love D.C. Love it! I was able to attend Georgetown one summer in college and work in Dupont Circle. I also have friends from school who live there now.

I had a great time. We went to a few of my favorite places in the world, starting with the National Zoo. Ike loves animals and he really loved this zoo because he was able to be so close to the animals and touch a few.
The next day we went to the Natural History Museum. Ike thought it was super cool that he was able to see all the different stuffed animals and he especially loved all the people he was able to meet.

I'm not sure if there is a more social person in the entire world. It takes Luke and a at least 30 minutes longer to do anything because we have to factor in the time Ike will take to stop and talk to people. Now that he is walking well there is no stopping his ability to talk to everyone in the entire whatever: mall, restaurant, airport, grocery store...

He has become quite famous here in our little area. He introduces himself to seriously everyone. So, everywhere we go people say "hey Ike!". Also weird is that people randomly take his picture on an almost daily basis. It is not like we live in a small town. We live right in the middle of OKC, a city of a million people.

We are very interested to see if Ike keeps his gregariousness. We hope so. Luke and I are very social people, but we have nothing on Ike's ability to make friends and entertain. His first sentence was "Ike go". And Go he does go go go go go...

Sorry it has been so long since I have post. Between being constantly sick and condensing my normal 50 hour work week in to roughly 20-30 and our crazy travel I have felt like I have had no time. I feel like as soon as I am able to catch up on things I will figure out how to resume my normal life. Right now I am making a conscious effort to be present with Ike when I am with him instead of shorting us both by trying to do my normal million things at once.

Anyway, happy almost Spring everyone!!!

I'm sure you hear this every day, but Ike is so cute! Glad to hear you're well (if not healthy) - it sounds like Ike has quickly become King of the House!
