IKE events

I don't have any pictures for you, but I do have really funny things to write about. We will start with today and go backwards :).

1. Today we went to a Korea Children's Day celebration that Ike's adoption agency put on. All the kids were running around like crazy, playing. This one little boy, Ike's age, takes Ike's balloon. Ike, without a second thought, punched this little boy in the eye! With dead aim too! Smack! "What did we say", you are probably thinking? "This would be a great time for a life lesson"? Nope! Luke and I started laughing really hard. Way too hard. It was so bad we could even say, "no, don't hit!" or anything else a responsible parent would say. Great. We are really good examples, especially since we laughed all the way back from Tulsa about it! And had Ike in the back seat saying "PAP!". Needless to say, Ike got his ballon back, and the dad took that boy away from us.

2. Last night Luke was changing Ike's poop diaper. Luke has never gotten used to this gross task and coughed, "Dear lord, thank you for not letting me throw up". Ike looks at him and says perfectly, "your welcomed"! He has only said that one other time and it was weeks ago and not that clearly. So funny!

3. Yesterday morning I was trying to get Ike out the door for school. I'm holding him and he is hugging me, patting my shoulder in a loving way. Then I feel wetness on my shoulder and realize he is patting and smearing some sort of liquid into shirt. This liquid is splashing up in my hair and I know its bad. Then the smell of throw up hit me. Yuck. I about puked too. We both had to change shirts.

4. The other week I was picking Ike up form school. I saw another mom looking distressed at the half door talking to Ike's teacher and say, "are you sure my daughter is okay in this class?". I was kinda worried and then I heard Ike's teacher say, "well, we have this one boy who isn't too steady on his feet". I immediately knew she was speaking of Ike. Turns out this little girl is very small, like 12 lbs smaller than Ike on a good day and they are bff. Ike tried to run up and hug her and instead he tripped on something a fell on top of her. She is still in the class, so I guess she is okay?

5. One more thing... Ike, as I mentioned in an early post, has an odd thing with apples. He loves apples. Loves pictures of apples, books with apples in them, and apples. He has to have an apple every day. And the apple must be peeled or he will have to give you all the skin from the apple. It takes him, with his 6 teeth, about 45-70 minutes to eat an apple. He has to eat the whole thing. On occasion, Sculley or Mulder will think he is giving them the apple. He is not. He wants them to taste it. He will then become extremely upset about them eating his apple in one bite. It took him most of the way to Tulsa to eat an apple today and we have started saving 'apple time' to our walks so he will have something to do. I started buying smaller apples so it wouldn't take him so long to eat one. I guess it's better than candy?

Next Saturday, Ike is in his first ever photo shoot. He has been 'hired' to be a model for a cloth diaper store in OKC. He and two other babies are getting their picture taken to hang above the cash register. He is very excited about his debut.

I'm going to try and be better and stay on top of funny things that Ike does. Really, they happen so often that we forget. And I'll get some pictures up soon. He was sick this week and last weekend he stayed with 'Gigi' so no picture were really taken. Well, except these pictures that we took of Ike playing inside the dog food bag? They're pretty funny, but it's not the kind of thing one posts before one's post-placement home-study is complete. Just kidding, I just haven't put them on the computer and my new iphone won't load to my iphoto. Not sure what's going on there, but I'll fix it and show ya the good stuff soon.

Your stories get better and better.. I thought the blog about not having a clue what to do when you first brought IKE home was amazing, but the punching another kid and laughing takes the prize! IKE is very lucky to have two "parents" to guide him through life such as you guys!
